A beautiful story from a person who found a rock

How Did You Hear About The Kindness Rocks Project? On Rock Out Erie Facebook Page.

What inspired you to contact/join TKRP?

I stumbled across the link "share your story" and I have a good story.

What was your initial reaction or impression when you stumbled upon the rock?

I was confused. I've never heard of the project. After the confusion, I was excited and happy.

What did the rock have written on it? (You can attach pictures below)

The rock I found had a purple footprint of a baby.

Any other thoughts, emotions comments, stories…

The day I found the rock, I had been reckless all day. My mom passed away last year after Christmas and I fell into a deep depression. But that day, I needed to get out of the house. I had this intense feeling to do something for once in 5 months. My boyfriend and I loaded up our dogs for a walk and I went to a place called Dobbins Landing. I kept having this feeling. Like I was supposed to know something. I wear braces on my legs and one of my straps came loose. I sat down to fix it and when I turned around, something caught my eye. A purple shine in some bushes. At first I had thought it was a Pokemon Go rock, until I got a closer look to find out that it was a project. NorthWestErierocks was on the back of it. We went home and I did some searching and discovered the group. I'm part of a smaller group called Rock Out Erie which is more localized and alot of people are getting in on it. I started painting rocks because I wanted to be a part of something bigger than me. I felt like that was my mom trying to help me out of my depression. I firmly believe it was my mom who led me to the rock. I just hid my first 6 rocks today and I never felt happier. I'm already working on my second set. But there is something about being a part of this. The simple act of kindness is the whole point of the project. I feel renewed. I feel lighter. I still miss my mom, but it's not in waves of grief. I have started small steps on getting out of the house and doing activities. I even inspired someone else who said they haven't drawn in over a year and she sent me a picture of a rock she had done because of me. To know I can inspire someone else is freeing. It's a wicked feeling. This is great, this project is awesome. It gives us individuals in Erie county to focus on and enjoy. Families are getting involved. Children are doing their own to hide. I want to thank the person who started up this idea. It's saved my life.
